Our client is a highly profitable and late-stage start-up in the mobile and networking technology sector.  They are deep in the core systems and backhaul environment of their carrier clients, which is a global “Who’s Who” list of leading service providers including: AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, China Mobile, Vodafone, etc.  This company is solving the carriers’ network congestion problems and providing solutions for successful delivery of rich-media content to millions of demanding mobile end users.


The ideal VP of Product Management candidate will own Product Line Management and work with senior executives to build consensus within and across organizations to effectively manage and prioritize competing needs.  This is an exciting opportunity offering unique challenges, equity, and the ability to help steer the product line and company towards a successful “next exit” (IPO or Acquisition).



  • Define overall product strategy and, on a day-to-day basis, define, manage and execute our products
  • Establish product direction, standards, best practices, and processes while maintaining a high level of trust and confidence with external and internal customers
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction and deliver high-quality, value-added products that exceed customer expectations
  • Directly manage a group of Product Line Managers, as well as take responsibility for guiding virtual teams across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Finance
  • Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional organizational teams to ensure synergy in all activities
  • Coordinate product development and roll-out of new services, in close collaboration with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and other functional business owners
  • Develop detailed target market requirements and product requirements for new product development and negotiate feature content with various organizations


Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in product management
  • At least 10 years’ experience within the mobile telecommunications industry, preferably specific to mobile internet businesses
  • Product management background, using formal processes to build product business plans, manage multiple products to achieve key performance metrics and drive business growth objectives across a global organization
  • Proven ability to develop product strategy, execute product-level business plans and drive product development
  • Demonstrated ability to own product management processes and effectively lead highly diverse cross-functional teams in implementing market-driven product initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of the competitive landscape, with the ability to spot new mobile data trends
  • Strong marketing background, including ability to size new product opportunities, build market-facing value propositions and translate marketing plans into executable product growth programs
  • Demonstrated strategic long-range thinking experience; ability to balance long-term direction with the need for immediate impact and results
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills for assessing business opportunities and interacting with all internal organizations and business customer groups
  • High level of personal initiative, integrity and leadership
  • Detail orientation; data-driven and highly analytical approach
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing or MBA preferred
